Vanessa Brossart has a wealth of experience evaluating and treating children and adults with a variety of communication impairments such as articulation and phonological impairments, receptive and expressive language disorders, social pragmatic deficits, fluency disorders, apraxia of speech, swallowing disorders, voice disorders, aphasia, and dysarthria. She is well-versed in working with individuals with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, behavioral disorders, selective mutism, and severe communication impairments requiring the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. Vanessa holds speech language pathology licenses in Colorado and Texas and is an ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist. Vanessa started her career at TIRR Memorial Hermann providing evaluation and treatment to adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury in a fast-paced, cutting-edge inpatient rehabilitation setting. She has worked for numerous school districts as well as home health agencies. In a variety of school districts, Vanessa has worked with students from three to 21 with a variety of disorders and communication levels.
Vanessa is passionate about helping individuals find functional communication systems as well as assisting them in effectively participating in social exchanges so that they can establish and maintain friendships. Vanessa has extensive experience working with children with significant behaviors as well as individuals requiring vocational training and preparation to live independently. She has also worked in a home health setting providing evaluation and treatment of patients who have spinal cord injuries and acquired brain injuries. Vanessa is a client-centered problem solver who creatively provides comprehensive and research- backed therapy to help her clients make the most progress possible. She lives in Castle Rock with her husband James, who is an engineer, their sons Timothy and Hugh, and their dogs Sadie and Dot. She enjoys hiking, cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
